Effects of Aerobic Training on HSP70, Liver Enzymes and Insulin Resistance index in Elderly Women with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver in Bojnourd, Iran
Abstract:   (3214 Views)
Introduction: One of the community health problems is the increase in the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its complications.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of eight weeks of aerobic training on HSP70, some liver enzymes and insulin resistance in elderly women with non-alcoholic fatty liver.
Method: In this quasi-experimental study, 20 elderly women were selected by convenience sampling method and were randomly assigned into control (n=10) and experimental (n=10) groups. The training included aerobic training with 55-60 HRR% for 35-50 min per session, three times per week for eight weeks. Before and at the end of the intervention, levels of HSP70, liver enzymes and insulin resistance were evaluated. Intra- and inter-group comparisons were made with dependent t-test and ANCOVA, respectively. For all statistical comparisons, the level of significance was set at p<0.05.
Results: Eight weeks of aerobic training increased HSP70 (1.11±0.34 vs 1.50±0.07 ng/dl) and decreased ALT (76.60±1.05 vs 66.30±1.11 U/l), AST (48.00±2.05 vs 45.90±2.80 U/l), FBS, insulin and insulin resistance significantly in elderly women with non-alcoholic fatty liver. The mean intragroup variations in ALT, AST, FBS, insulin and insulin resistance were significant.
Conclusion: Eight weeks of aerobic training has favorable influence on HSP70, ALT, AST, FBS, insulin and insulin resistance in elderly women with non-alcoholic fatty liver, and can be used as a proper exercise protocol to maintain good health.
