Knowledge، attitude and practice of nursing regarding post operative pain management in hospitals affiliated to BushehrUniversity of Medical Sciences Management

Introduction: Pain is one of the patients’ problems who have undergone surgery.Due to the close relationshipbetween patients and nurses, pain will be relieved regarding to appropriate knowledge, attitudes and practice. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses in the management of post operative pain in surgical wards of Persian Gulf Martyrs Hospital in Bushehr. Method: This cross-sectional study included 77 nurseswhoworked in the surgery ward. Sampling methods was census. Data collection tool was a questionnaire includingdemographic information and the questions regarding knowledge and attitude of the nurse(Ferrer and Burke questionnaire ) respectively. Data was collected using descriptive statistics and T-test ،x²، variance analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient analysis . Data was analyzed using the SPSS v. 19. Results: The results showed that 70.1 %of subjectshad low and very low knowledge, 14/3% had high knowledge, 98.7% had very low attitude, 1/3% had low attitude and 5.2% of them had low and very low practice score.89/6% were high and very high in practice, and only significant statistical relationship was found between practice and education. Conclusion: based on result acquired we suggested to plans to enhance the staff knowledge and attitude toward pain management by responsible liable .
